Finally confirming one of the worst-kept secrets in video gaming this year, Telltale Games have announced a partnership with HBO to bring epic drama series Game of Thrones to PCs and home consoles in 2014.
Details are scarce at this stage, but gamers should expect to see Telltale’s trademark interactive storytelling and narrative-heavy gameplay mechanics applied to the universe of the Emmy Award-winning show throughout the course of the "multi-year, multi-title" collaboration.
Co-founder and CEO of Telltale Games, Dan Connors, said: "This partnership will create an experience that will captivate the huge, global Game of Thrones audience. It will put them in control of the epic stories of warfare, intrigue, violence and revenge that we know and love."
Based on the fantasy book series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin, Game of Thrones is an epic story with political and sexual intrigue abound as seven noble families fight for control of the Iron Throne and the Seven Kingdoms.
In a similar but separate announcement, Telltale have confirmed that episodic series Tales from the Borderlands – created in partnership with Gearbox Software and based on the popular shooter franchise – is currently under development, and is also set for release in 2014.
