Indie devs Hello Games hit hard by Christmas floods

The good folks over at indie developer Hello Games have had a harder festive season than most this year, after their Guildford studio became completely flooded amid storms ravaging southern Britain. Their official Twitter account tweeted on Christmas Day: "A river broke its bank nearby yesterday, and a lot of water flooded in really quickly. A biblical amount. It was coming in the windows!"

Throughout this terrible turn of events the studio stayed in good spirits, and with great support pouring in from gaming fans, they reassured everyone that this wasn’t going to keep them down, later tweeting: "We’re taking stock today, but already I know we’ll come back stronger 🙂 – all we’ll need is a place to work and a machine to work on :)".

It’s a terrible end to what has otherwise been a fantastic month for Hello Games after their spectacular showing at VGX, blowing onlookers away with a short trailer for their new sci-fi exploration game, No Man’s Sky. With the gaming world’s eyes fixed on the small four-man studio, we at Power Up Gaming wish them a speedy recovery.
