WWE and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have announced the upcoming release of WWE Immortals, a free-to-play mobile game.
Scheduled for release in 2015 on Android and iOS devices, the title promises to feature epic pro wrestling superstar battles in a “fantastically re-imagined WWE world”. The game is being created by NetherRealm Studios, the studio responsible for developing the rebooted Mortal Kombat series, as well as Injustice: Gods Among Us.
Greg Ballard, WBIE’s senior vice president of mobile, social and emerging platforms, said: “NetherRealm Studios are experts in creating award-winning games and the team is working hard to deliver the same quality of engaging gameplay with WWE Immortals.”
Casey Collins, WWE’s executive vice president of consumer products, added: “By tapping into NetherRealm’s legendary game development studio along with the unparalleled reach of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, we are creating a new way for fans to engage with the larger-than-life WWE characters.”
Further details, including gameplay features, are expected to be announced in the months ahead.
