Indie developer Tale Of Tales have this week released the first batch of screenshots from their upcoming project and runaway crowdfunding success, Sunset.
The game, due to be released in March, is a narrative-driven first-person game that casts you as the housekeeper of a 1970s apartment in a fictional South American city. The game will have you exploring the home of your employer, Gabriel Ortega, a wealthy individual who plays a significant part in the revolution that is currently gripping the country.
Tale of Tales’ developer Auriea Harvey assures us: “These shots are still work in progress and even though they do not represent the final beauty of the game, they say a lot about what is going to make the penthouse a spectacular environment to explore. Rather than try to make a photo-real environment we’ve stuck to our artistic strengths.”
“All Tale of Tales games have a really subtle stylisation that may not look real but once you are in these environments, they feel real. To pull off this effect in Sunset we’ve pushed the colour scheme to its saturation point with the tones of the evening sky, chic lighting from designer lamps and dramatic shadows.”
The game comes from a decent pedigree, with other Tale of Tales games including The Endless Forest, The Path, Fatale and Luxuria Superbia. The soundtrack will be provided by Austin Wintory (Journey, The Banner Saga, Monaco). Sunset was initially unveiled on Kickstarter, where it achieved 270% of its funding goal.
While further details are currently thin on the ground, Sunset features a striking art style, and we’re looking forward to seeing how the final product turns out.
