PS4 and Vita Release Delayed In China

Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Vita will not breach Chinese shores on January 11 after all.

The news, coming by way of a Reuters report, is not entirely surprising. Microsoft experienced a very similar delay for the launch of the Xbox One last September, after China had revoked a 14-year ban on foreign game consoles. The delay of Sony’s consoles has been attributed to “various factors,” while a company source in China told Reuters that negotiations with Chinese officials are part of the problem.

With China’s massive population, these big companies are likely very eager to get into the gaming markets that have largely been dominated by the mobile space for the past decade. No word was given regarding a new release date for the PS4, but if history tells us anything, it shouldn’t be very long. The Xbox One launched only six days after it’s intended release.
