Hugely popular voice actor Troy Baker, who is set to appear as Sam Drake in Naughty Dog’s upcoming Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, has admitted that he initially chose to play Assassin’s Creed over the first game in the series.
In a sit-down chat alongside fellow star Nolan North (who voices protagonist Nathan Drake throughout the adventure series), Baker let slip that he slept on first game in the series after being lent it along with a PS3 by a friend.
In the interview with Game Informer, the pair discussed their history together, their perceived rivalry and sibling conflict in Uncharted 4. On the subject of his introduction to the series as a fan, Baker said: “A buddy of mine let me borrow his PS3, and he said there’s a game you’ve got to play; it was Uncharted. And so I was like, thank you so much for the PS3, and I took it from him, I put it in my room, and I did exactly what I should’ve done, which is I went out, and I got Assassin’s Creed!”
The actor quickly added that after completing AC, he went out and purchased Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, which he said “blew [his] mind” upon playing it for the first time. Baker then went on to pay tribute to the performances and mo-cap of the actors in the game, and described himself as an “instant fan” of Nolan North after experiencing the first of Nathan Drake’s adventures.
