Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty Gets PC, PS3 and Xbox One Release Date

Fans of Oddworld, rejoice: the New ‘n’ Tasty HD remaster finally has a PC, PS3 and Xbox One release date.

Developed by Just Add Water, Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is a total remaster of classic puzzle-platformer Abe’s Oddysee, updating the still incredibly solid gameplay with cutting-edge new-gen graphics.

Despite coming out for the PlayStation 4 in July 2014, other platforms will still have to wait a little longer. PC users can expect a release date of February 25, while Oddworld fans on PlayStation 3 and Xbox One will have to wait until “early” March to get their hands on it.

The influence of Oddworld’s stealth and puzzle mechanics can still be seen in games today.

While there are some games whose need for a remaster are dubious at best (looking at you, Sleeping Dogs), Abe’s Oddysee has been crying out for a HD re-release for years. There’s little to fault with the core gameplay even today, but the late-nineties graphics really hold it back in terms of accessibility.

Oddworld has some of the most vibrant level and character design seen throughout gaming, so seeing it updated with the visual polish it deserves is a welcome sight. It also gives Abe’s Oddysee a chance to be played by a whole new generation of gamers, which can only be a good thing.
