Players will soon be able to stream their Xbox One games to any Windows 10 device, Microsoft has today announced.
Just moments ago, at the Windows 10 keynote from the company’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington, Xbox head Phil Spencer opened the announcement with the tease: “Wouldn’t it be great if we could play those [Xbox One] games anywhere in the house?”
He then confirmed that tablets, PCs and possibly mobile phones running Microsoft’s upcoming OS will be able to play Xbox One games over wifi, streamed from the home console. Spencer demonstrated Forza Horizon 2 being played on a Surface Pro 3, and confirmed that users’ entire game libraries will be available for streaming. He also reiterated, however, that only devices using Windows 10 will be compatible – meaning the feature is still some way off yet.
At the conference, Microsoft also announced the launch of the Xbox app for Windows 10, which takes the continuity beyond simply playing your games. Achievements, friends, video sharing and other social functions available on the Xbox One will be coming to PCs.
