Insomniac Games has filed a trademark for the name ‘Fruit Fusion’ in the US, prompting speculation that the developer is working on a new IP.
According to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the registration was filed on February 11, and is in connection with “video game software” and “entertainment services, namely, providing online video games”.
Forums and social media are already abuzz with speculation as to what the mark could allude to, with many pointing out that it sounds along the same lines as casual mobile titles such as Candy Crush and others. In 2012, Insomniac created their first social video game, Outernauts, so it certainly doesn’t seem too much of a stretch to think that they may be turning to the burgeoning mobile marketplace for their next title.
Other users suggest that it could be the title of a DLC pack for the developer’s latest game, Sunset Overdrive, or even a mobile application in connection with their upcoming Ratchet and Clank re-imagining.
