The last few weeks have seen a regular stream of news regarding the roster of Mortal Kombat X. Some have been officially confirmed, while others are still nothing more than rumours. Either way, it has been an exciting month for fans of the franchise.
The excitement for many began with the guest character rumours that surfaced a couple of weeks ago. Firstly, Todd McFarlane confirmed during an interview that NetherRealm has a deal to use Spawn in their games. While this is not confirmation that he will be appearing in Mortal Kombat X, it at least shows it’s possible.
After that, a rumour surfaced that there would be DLC coming later in the year containing the Predator and Colonel Al Dillons (as played by Carl Weathers in the Predator series) – with at least the Predator being playable. While neither have been confirmed as of yet, the hype that has surrounded these rumours shows just how welcome the additions would be.
The following week, the official story trailer dropped, revealing four new characters. Returning kombatant Mileena was joined by Jax’s daughter Jacqueline Briggs, Kenshi’s son Takashi Takeda and Kung Lao’s descendent Kung Jin. While these were exciting enough in their own right, it was the characters that were merely hinted at that were even more interesting. These included the likes of Rain, Johnny Caga, Baraka, Shinnok, Sindel, Evil Kitana, and a character from the Mortal Kombat X comic named Erron Black.
Finally, the most recent announcement from Ed Boon saw Kenshi joining the roster of the mobile version of Mortal Kombat X. Does this also mean we’ll see him returning in the console version of Mortal Kombat X? We’ll just have to wait to find out.
