Super Smash Bros: Expanded Roster and Fighter Ballot Revealed

A lot of news was thrown around during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct stream, including the announcement of a bunch of forthcoming downloadable content for Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U and 3DS.

The previously announced Mewtwo DLC will be available for free on April 15 for Club Nintendo members who registered both versions of Smash (Wii U and 3DS) before March 31. For those who didn’t, the content will be released on April 28 at the cost of $3.99 per platform, or $4.99 for both.

Mother 3’s Lucas, who made an appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, will also be available as DLC, hopefully sometime in June.

During the Direct presentation, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata also announced that new Mii Fighter customization items will be added to Smash, including costumes based on various Nintendo classics like Zelda, Xenoblade, and Mega Man. These items and costumes will be available for download on April 15, for the fairly low price of $1.15 for both editions of the game, or $0.75 for a single version.

These announcements come as a bit of a surprise, considering that Nintendo had previously stated that Mewtwo would be the only DLC for Super Smash Bros. But perhaps the most interesting announcement is that Nintendo is asking for suggestions on which fighters fans would like to see join the battle in the future. By filling out the Super Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot, you can now propose your nominations for Nintendo characters that you would like to see as future Smash DLC. On a personal note, Terra from Final Fantasy VI, please!
