The creator of cult hit Five Nights at Freddy’s has today confirmed he is working on a new game in the franchise, although it will not be a main series entry – nor will it be a horror game at all.
After weeks of speculation, indie developer Scott Cawthon issued a press release earlier today to announce that his latest project is an RPG titled Five Nights at Freddy’s World, which will allow players to “create a party using the huge selection of characters from the FNaF games, including the classic, withered, toy, phantom, and nightmare versions.”
Cawthon added that although he had initially hoped to release a demo for the title at Halloween, due to the increased scope of the title, this is now unlikely to happen, though it will be released “as soon as it’s ready”.
However, at the same time, the solo designer added that: “There will not be a Five Nights at Freddy’s 5. The story is complete, and the Halloween update and new game will not add to it.”
Five Nights at Freddy’s World will be released for PC, iOS and Android. It currently does not have an estimated launch date.
