WWE 2K16: New Gameplay Clip Surfaces; Latest Roster Addition Confirmed

2K Games has today released the latest gameplay clip from its upcoming pro wrestling sim WWE 2K16, as well as confirming the inclusion of a previously unannounced superstar.

The four-minute video, courtesy of the WWE2KDev YouTube channel, shows there’s no love lost between brothers Goldust and Stardust. As well as showing off the shiniest of shiny ring attires, the clip also provides fans with a taster of how the three-man commentary booth will play out in this year’s instalment, with JBL making his debut announcing appearance (listen out for a moment of fourth wall-breaking hilarity towards the end of the video).

On a related note, 2K has this week issued a correction on a previously announced DLC match-up. Rather than featuring a match between Larry Zbyszko and Arn Anderson, the 2015 Hall of Fame Showcase pack will see the two team up to take on Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat and Dustin Rhodes – one of Goldust’s earliest gimmicks – in a recreation of their contest from WCW Clash of the Champions XVII. This amendment confirms Dustin Rhodes as a DLC character for the first time.

The full list of DLC that will be available for WWE 2K16 is as follows:

Accelerator
•    Players will gain instant access to all unlockable content available in the game (excluding downloadable content);
•    The Accelerator will be available for a suggested price of $1.99.

MyPlayer KickStart (PS4 and Xbox One Exclusive)

•    Players will gain instant access to boost created Superstar ratings and attributes in the game’s MyCareer mode;
•    MyPlayer KickStart will be available for a suggested price of $9.99.

Legends Pack
•    Playable WWE Legends: Big Boss Man, Dusty Rhodes, Lita, Mr. Perfect, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and Trish Stratus;
•    The Legends Pack will be available for a suggested price of $8.99.

2015 Hall of Fame Showcase

•    Playable matches include:
o    “Macho Man” Randy Savage vs. Jake “The Snake” Roberts;
o    Rikishi vs. The Rock;
o    Alundra Blayze vs. Paige;
o    Larry Zbyszko and Arn Anderson vs. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat and Dustin Rhodes;
o    Tatsumi Fujinami vs. Ric Flair;
o    The Bushwhackers (Butch Miller and Luke  Williams) vs. The Natural Disasters (Typhoon and Earthquake);
o    The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) vs. Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray);
•    The 2015 Hall of Fame Showcase will be available for a suggested price of $9.99.

New Moves Pack

•    More than 30 new moves, including the Corner Enzuigiri (made popular by WWE Diva Nikki Bella), Avalanche Ram (made popular by WWE Diva Paige), Sidewinder Suplex (made popular by WWE and NXT Superstar Kevin Owens), Standing Crossface Chickenwing (made popular by WWE Superstar Stardust) and Dragon Sleeper (made popular by NXT Superstar Finn Bálor);
•    The New Moves Pack will be available for a suggested price of $3.99.

Future Stars Pack
•    Playable NXT Superstars: Samoa Joe, Diego, Fernando, Blake and Murphy;
•    The Future Stars Pack will be available for a suggested price of $7.99.

After the backlash the company faced last year with their convoluted season pass program, it’s a much more straightforward affair this time around. For $24.99, players will be granted access to all of the DLC packs listed above, with the exception of the MyPlayer KickStart.

WWE 2K16 is scheduled to release on October 27 across current and last-gen consoles.

        Well that doesnt make any sense at all, he said:

        “2K Games has today released the latest gameplay clip from its upcoming pro wrestling sim WWE 2K16, as well as confirming the inclusion of a previously unannounced superstar.”

        All dlc was announced and Dustin Rhodes been dlc for the first time is a justified announcement? When Samoa Joe is dlc for the first time in his first ever WWE game, I don’t recall any recent games with the bushwhackers or Arn Anderson but that’s not getting its own announcement.

        So to say he said Dustin Rhodes was dlc for the first time as something we didn’t already know is a bit daft on his end.

    It’s been quite a length of time since I picked up one of these games and I have to say, the texture detail on the character models and the fluidity of the animations have increased and improved to such an extent from the last time I played them that I feel we are swiftly approaching the point where further refinement will no longer be possible. The more die-hard fans of the series, I believe, should not take that truth as laxly as they do; with the first WWF SmackDown!, Yuke’s envisioned creating the most authentic wrestling simulator in the industry, and with the 2K16 incarnation, they are several steps closer to that goal.
