Mighty No. 9 ‘Will Not Be Delayed Again’ Says Inafune; Discusses Sequel

Inafune has stated that Mighty No. 9 “absolutely will not” receive another delay during an interview with Gamespark. He also reported his intentions to make a sequel if the game is successful, and has indicated that the previous delays occurred, in part, because of the number of platforms for which Mighty No. 9 will release.

Since the initial announcement of Mighty No. 9, fans have been eagerly awaiting Inafune’s spiritual successor to Mega Man, but patience has seemingly worn thin after multiple last minute release date changes and a relative lack of communication. Although the game was initially scheduled to release in April 2015, it was then pushed back to August 2015 before receiving its most recent delay to February 2016. Producer Keiij Inafune states that the game will not be delayed again. His statement that the delays have been primarily due to the number of platforms for which the game will release is not terribly surprising as that number currently stands at 10.

Mighty No. 9 is currently set to release February 9, 2016 in the US and February 12, 2016 worldwide. It is planned to release for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, WiiU, 3DS, Vita, Windows, OS X, and Linux.
