A screenshot from the upcoming Nintendo 3DS game, Bravely Second , has been making the rounds, suggesting that the Tomahawk class has been changed to that of the Cowboy. Magnolia Arch is shown in a cowboy hat and leather pants rather than in her Native American-style leather outfit. The source of this picture, according to the original poster, is “that Spanish store.” The name and any details about the supposed store are suspiciously absent.
Now that it’s out there, what are the odds that this is legitimate? Given Nintendo of America’s facepalm-enducing censorship-happiness, it should come as no surprise that some of the costumes would be covered up. But to change the class itself, especially when race is such an explosive topic? If it is true, I can imagine that the core reason behind the change is the controversy over the Washington Redskins.
Keep in mind that this is an entirely aesthetic alteration. No gameplay elements have been changed. And once again, given the lack of source credibility, it’s best to wait for an official announcement.
Let’s just hope this screenshot hasn’t given the localisation team any bad ideas.
