We’ve known for a little while now that Sony Santa Monica has been working on a title unrelated to God of War. Today they’ve announced their new game named Bound. This announcement came along with a new teaser trailer.
Within the blog post, Michal Staniszewski, from Plastic, goes on to state that the developers are looking to create something “that is quite unique in visual style, narrative storytelling, and also mechanics.”
The game is described as a 3D platformer “for people with the desire to concentrate on the narrative side of games and experience a mature story.” The blog also mentions that the game will include “one big puzzle” in which the community will need to work together to solve.
Although nothing specific is mentioned of the game’s story, the main character is a ballerina possessing a “rich personality.” The movements of the protagonist have been captured with the aid of a dancer, Maria Udod, and her choreographer, Michal Adam Goral.
At one point in the blog, the game is referred to a “notgame,” although it is not entirely clear what is meant by this term. The art is described as “concentreated on Modern Art” and drawing inspiration on our world. Despite this comment, the aesthetic looks to be far more abstract from the provided screenshots. Take a look for yourself below.
At this point in time, the game is confirmed to be developed for the PS4 but no indication of a release date has yet been discussed. According to a Sony Santa Monica rep, the game will be playable at the PlayStation Experience this weekend (December 5-6).
