It’s no secret that Nintendo’s world-famous mascot indulges in a variety of sports, but usually only one at a time. Recently, however, the portly plumber has seemingly decided that hockey was in serious need of a go-kart makeover. And so, using his universal appeal, he roped Tampa Bay Lightning’s ThunderBug and the Pittsburgh Penguins’ Iceburgh mascots into joining him on the track.

The race was presented as a halftime show at a Lightning vs. Penguins game with the animated images projected onto the ice rink. CBS Sports found the tweet and even asked the poster’s permission to use the footage on their platforms. But forget the hockey game, who won the kart race?
