PlayStation VR Reportedly Works on Xbox One, Wii U and PC

Sony’s newly launched PlayStation VR headset is compatible with a range of systems including the Xbox One, Wii U and PC, according to a number of sources.

Although the virtual reality unit understandably does not include full compatibility or any of its immersive head-tracking features, users are reporting that they have been able to watch and play content from other sources and consoles in PS VR’s Cinematic Mode, simply by plugging their device into the headset’s processing unit via its supplied HDMI cable.

PlayStation VR’s Cinematic Mode effectively provides users with a simulated movie theatre screen ranging from 117 to 226 inches in size, and is placed at a virtual depth of between six to ten feet away from users.

While it remains to be seen how well static games can actually be played on the system, there’s something undeniably novel about being able to play the recently released Microsoft-exclusive Gears of War 4 on a PS VR headset.
