While Microsoft has already championed the Xbox One as being the best-selling console of October in the US, the PS4 also had a particularly strong showing, according to the NPD Group’s latest report.
Overall, unit sales for the Xbox One grew by eight percent year-over-year (YoY) in October, and combined, its various configurations beat out the various PS4 options. However, the PS4 Slim 500 GB Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End bundle had a particularly strong showing, and was the month’s best-selling console SKU, accounting for 17 percent of total hardware units sold in the month.
Averaging pricing for the Xbox One also fell by 17 percent in October YoY.
In related news, the tracking firm’s monthly report shows that console software sales (digital and physical) were up 31 percent YoY to $505.7 million, with PC game sales seeing the most impressive increase, up by 172 percent YoY to $33.8 million. Hardware sales, meanwhile, fell 20 percent YoY to $215.2 million.
