Update: Publisher Team 17 has confirmed the news in a press release issued earlier: “Announced today, Yooka-Laylee will launch on April 11, 2017 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.”
The release date of Yooka-Laylee, Playtonic’s spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, may have today been leaked by the official Xbox Store.
Microsoft’s pre-order listing for the title was updated earlier to include a release date of April 11, 2017, which places it nearly a month later than a previously rumoured launch date of March 14.
Meanwhile, according to Brazilian retailer Saraiva, the 3D platformer will release physically in the country on April 7 on both PS4 and Xbox One.
Power Up Gaming recently had the opportunity to get hands-on with Yooka-Laylee at EGX 2016, where we described the demo level we played as a “joyous experience”.
Playtonic Games is made up of a number of former Rare employees, many of whom worked on the original Banjo-Kazooie as well as classic titles such as Donkey Kong Country and GoldenEye 007.
