Nintendo Switch Possibly Region-Free; Will Not Include 3G/LTE Support

Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch will not include 3G or LTE cellular data support according to a recent FCC report, debunking previous rumours to the contrary.

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recently tested various aspects of a ‘production prototype’ of the console ahead of its March 2017 launch. While the filings contain mentions of support for both 2Ghz and 5Ghz via 802.11ac wifi, as well as Bluetooth 4.0 functionality, the Switch did not undergo tests for 3G or LTE – effectively confirming the console will not include support for the mobile data standards.

Interestingly, its power brick is listed as 100 – 240 V, 50 / 60 Hz, 1 A, an AC adapter with worldwide compatibility, hinting at the fact that the Switch could be Nintendo’s first truly region-free home console.
