Hours after it was discovered that Sega has registered a domain name relating to a potential Shenmue HD remaster, it has been revealed that the company has taken ownership of a second relevant TLD.
According to public Whois records, Sega’s European arm registered the ‘shenmueremastered.com’ domain name back in September, shortly after purchasing ‘shenmuehd.com’ – pointing to the very real possibility that remastered versions of the company’s critically acclaimed Dreamcast titles are currently in the works.
In May 2016, Sega confirmed it was ‘investigating’ creating an official remastered version of Shenmue I and II.
On an unrelated note, Shenmue III is scheduled to release in December 2017 for PC and PS4. The long-awaited sequel was green lighted after series creator Yu Suzuki succeeded in raising over $6 million for the project on crowdfunding website Kickstarter in July 2015.
