The first 31 superstars to be featured on the WWE 2K19 roster have been confirmed in the upcoming pro wrestling simulation’s cover reveal trailer.
In the TV spot that debuted on Thursday night’s WWE Smackdown Live, the ‘Phenomenal’ AJ Styles was announced as the WWE 2K19 cover star, with the game’s release date being confirmed as October 9 for PC, Xbox One and PS4 – slightly earlier than previously expected.
In an accompanying press release, publisher 2K Sports also announced plans for two special editions of the title. The WWE 2K19 Deluxe Edition is set to feature special packaging, the full season pass and exclusive DLC, while the WWE 2K19 Collector’s Edition will include all of the content from the Deluxe Edition, plus “exclusive and rare collectables” and limited WWE SuperCard content.
However, eagled-eyed Smackdown viewers may have been more excited by the WWE 2K19 roster reveal seemingly included in the trailer’s debut, with graphics of a number of WWE superstars flashing across the screen during the video. When slowed down, the spot certainly seems to suggest that at least 31 grapplers have been confirmed as being included in the title.
While most of them will come as no great surprise to pro wrestling fans, as the majority of them are active members of the active WWE roster, the inclusion of the Bella Twins and Lana are intriguing ones – with the latter looking finally set to see her debut as a playable wrestler in the long-running WWE 2K franchise.
