Darksiders 3 has been out for a few days now and it has got mixed reviews. Some people, including myself, loved the game. Others thought that it was a little too much like Dark Souls and that was a poor design choice. THQ Nordic CEO commented on the mix reviews and mentioned that Darksiders 3 delivers on its promise and that he is proud of what the game has to offer.
The following is what THQ Nordic CEO Lars Wingefors had to say regarding the matter:
“The promise we made was to deliver a game to the fans of the franchise, and I’m really proud of it. I’m really proud of what we’ve been able to show you, I think [developer] Gunfire has made an excellent game, and even my publishing team in Vienna has been working really hard to execute on this — all the marketing, all the behind-the-scenes things.”
He mentioned that some people enjoyed the game and other did not. He mentioned that the game was released in a short amount of time from acquiring the rights to releasing the game. All of this took 5 years in total. That might seem like a long enough time to release a game but keep in mind that the franchise did die so you can imagine that things were pretty complicated.
He also mentioned that the company has plenty of IPs and that you should not expect to hear about prequels for them too. While all that is great. I have enjoyed my time with Darksiders 3 and I think most of the fans feel the same way about the game. I think that the critics missed the fact that each game is designed around a different character.
Each character has a persona of its own and the game mechanics need to change accordingly. Fury is a very confident and blood-thirsty character and the high-risk high-reward gameplay is something that suits the character. That is what I think about Darksiders 3. let us know what you experience has been like.
