Assassin’s Creed Odyssey DLC Controversy Forces Ubisoft to Make Changes

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Shadow Heritage, the newest DLC for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, not only ignored player choice but gay characters as well.

Ubisoft previous apologized for the ignorance and offered an explanation but it seems that was not enough. The backlash was significant and the fans were not pleased at all. Now Ubisoft is making some changes that will be part of the next patch. The developer has also mentioned that the upcoming updates will mirror player choice, which is something that the devs should have taken into account in the first place.

In a new statement, Ubisoft mentioned that not only will the controversial trophy name be changed but there will be some cutscene changes as well which will give players more freedom. The following is what the company had to say in this regard:

“After hearing player feedback and discussing within the development team we are making changes to a cutscene and some dialogue in Shadow Heritage to better reflect the nature of the relationship for players selecting a non-romantic storyline. These changes, along with renaming a trophy/achievement, are being made now and will be implemented in an upcoming patch.”

We do not know when this Assassin’s Creed Odyssey patch will be released but keeping in mind the heat that the developer is getting it should not be too long. Players that have already finished the DLC might have some issues but know that the voice of the gamers has been heard and that players are now getting what they asked for.

Bloodline is going to be the next episode and it will be interesting to see what it has to offer in terms of content and choices. We will keep you updated regarding the matter so stay tuned for more news and information.
