EA has confirmed updates and new games that will be released in 2019 and 2020. According to the company, it will not only be introducing more content to current games but will also be adding new titles. This includes more content for Apex Legends, a new free-to-play battle royale game that just came out and has already got a million players. Now that EA and Respawn are working on a battle royale game we might be rapid updates in order to keep the players busy. Upcoming games include Need For Speed, Star Wars and more.
EA also hinted at what seems to be a new Titanfall game but it is speculation at this point so take this with a grain of salt. Titanfall is a popular franchise and is rather underrated due to the launch time. Titanfall 2 released at a better time and had a lot of success. Since then players have been asking for another game and from what we have seen so far, EA might give the fans what they want. EA also mentioned another Star Wars game that will be released before 2020. The following is what EA chief operating and financial offer Blake Jorgenson had to say about Need for Speed and other upcoming titles in a recent investors call:
We’re making adjustments to improve execution and we’re refocusing R&D. Looking forward, we’re delighted to launch Anthem, our new IP, to grow Apex Legends and related Titanfall experiences, to deliver new Plants vs. Zombies and Need for Speed titles, and to add Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to our sports titles in the fall.
Need For Speed is a very successful franchise in general and we have not seen a new game in the series for a while not. That is most likely because the latest title was not very popular due to the microtransactions and odd card upgrade system. Need for Speed Payback launched in November of 2017 and it is about time that we got a new game in the series. I hope that EA can do a better job this time and avoid putting microtransactions in every game as it does spoil the experience.
Anthem is the latest game from EA and Bioware and is going to release later this year. We played the VIP demo and the open demo as well. While the VIP demo had some major issues the open demo was much better and I hope that the launch version of the game is perfect.
