Tekken 7 Director is Tired of Avoiding Offending People

Tekken 7 director Katsuhiro Harada has always been a man of many words and has never been afraid to voice his concerns. He is often found talking to fans about Tekken and other matters. In today’s day and age offending people is very easy and it seems like this is something that cannot be avoided.

Tekken 7 director Katsuhiro Harada has spent some time trying to avoid offending people but now he has come forward and mentioned that will no longer be the case. The following is what he had to say when a fan asked him about adding a Viking character to Tekken:

I’d like to challenge such a theme design. However, the time has come when the challenge is very difficult. Because there are people who complain about characteristic design as “This is a stereotype!”

Harada made it clear that he will do what he wants and that his decisions will not be affected by what people have to say. I think that you cannot please everyone in the community and that you are going to get a certain degree of hate no matter what you do. This is something that we have seen in the past and it is going to be valid till the end of time. He further went on to mention the following:

The individual (or culture) identity will become homogenized. Perhaps everyone around the world should just wear T-shirts and jeans. The shirts should be plain, with nothing on it. If there is a design, it could offend someone somewhere, right? I’ve become quite tired of trying to avoid causing potential offense issues.

Listening to haters all the time can be demotivating but I do not think that such comments should affect the decisions that developers make. I am sure that the majority of people are going to have a positive response. It is interesting to note that Tekken is a widely popular series and has even become a major sports title and yet there are people that have issues with the game.

Let us know what you think about Tekken 7 and whether or not you would like to see a Viking character in the game.
