The Division 2 PS4 Download Size Double Other Consoles; Complicated Pre-load

The Division 2 release is around the corner and people are interested in knowing about the download size of the game and when they can start downloading it. It turns out that things are much simpler for PC and Xbox but a bit complicated for people on the PS4. Not only is the download size on PS4 double that of Xbox and PC, but the pre-load times are also a bit complicated.

If you are interested in playing The Division 2 on PS4 then you will need 90-100 GB of free storage on your console no matter if you get a digital or retail copy. While the update titled update 1 will come with the disk, you will still need to download around 42 GB in order to play the game. This means that if you have slow internet then it is more than likely that you will not be able to play the game at launch.

Things are a bit different for PC and Xbox One. You will only need around 50 GB of free storage in both these cases. The following is what an official Ubisoft post had to say in this regard:

If you purchased a physical copy of the game, begin installing from the disc. Provided you are online, your console will simultaneously download Title Update 1 while you install it. Expect a 48-52 GB download, depending on your region and preferred language. Whether installed from a disc or downloaded digitally, the final HDD install size, including the patch will be between 90-100 GB.

The Division 2 pre-load on the PS4 is also a bit complicated. If you have pre-ordered the game on PC or Xbox then you cans pre-load it now. This applies to all version of the game provided that you have bought a digital copy. If you bought the game on PS4 and live in Europe then Gold and Ultimate Edition players can pre-load the game now but standard edition players will need to wait until March 11 at 12:01 a.m. local time..

In America, the pre-load of the Gold and Ultimate Edition starts on March 10 at 12:01 a.m. EDT. If you have the Standard Edition of the game then you will have to wait until  March 13 at 12:01 a.m. EDT. The good news is that all the DLC for the first year is free and that the game is highly replayable compared to the original one.

Let us know what you think about the massive amount of storage The Division 2 is going to take up on PS4 and whether or not you are affected by this issue.
