Is The Division 2 Splitting the Community?

The Division 2

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is out now but players that bought the Ultimate Edition or the Gold Edition get the season pass which gives then access to content earlier than others. Fans are concerned that this could divide the community into two parts. Friends that have bought the more expensive version will want to play the new content as soon as it arrives while people that bought the base game will have to wait.

Even though the content for the first year is free this is something that fans are concerned about and it is a valid concern. Ubisoft has confirmed that the launch of The Division 2 is just the beginning and that more content is going to be added down the line.

The developers have learned plenty from the previous game and I do not think that Massive is going to make this kind of a mistake moving forward. Massive Entertainment’s Mathias Karlson had the following to say in this regard:

“We’ve learned a tremendous amount about what it’s like running and refining a The Division game from the first one. So we have applied that not just to the game we’re releasing, I believe also truly to the post-launch. So we’re not splitting the community in any way.”

Karlson explained that the team is going to release three episodes that will be packed with new content so that different players are not divided. New specializations will also be part of the game and you will be able to check them out with the passage of time. People that have got the season pass will have access to this content first but it is still free to all even though standard edition players will gain access later on. Kalson went on to mention the following:

“We’re releasing three major episodes that are all about giving players content for free, so that they don’t get divided trying to really cover everything from new main missions, new narrative threads, new areas to explore, add to the PvP content, etc.”

The replayability of The Division 2 is much better as compared to the previous game but there is a bug that keeps two people on the same internet connection from playing with each other. Ubisoft knows of the issue and is working on a fix.
