Google Stadia is a new gaming platform that has been announced recently. We have already talked about how it could hurt companies like Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony and how it is already doing that. Now we have learned about the traction that Google Stadia is getting from not only developer by creators as well.
Google’s Phil Harrison talked about the new gaming platform and the traction that it has been getting and the following is what he had to say in this regard:
We’ve had deep conversations over a number of years now. We’ve shipped over a hundred development kits already. We’ve got thousands of creatives already underway. So you’ll see a pretty amazing lineup come June.
Even though there is a big lineup planned for June Phil Harrison did not confirm that the company will be at E3 2019. This is interesting because Microsoft’s Phil Spencer has already announced and reassured people again recently that the company is going to go big this year at E3 2019.
Google Stadia is a promising platform and I am sure that there are people that have a lot of questions. The internet requirement of the platform is a major question keeping in mind that this is an online streaming platform. Harrison talked about the recommended internet speed and he mentioned that you will need a 30Mbps connection in order to stream games at 4K 60 FPS. He talked about how the requirement reduces as you turn down the resolution.
He also talked about the technology behind all this. He mentioned that is there was a drop in the internet then Google Stadia would keep the FPS at 60 and drop the resolution when needed in order to adapt to the internet speed. This is very interesting indeed and it means that you will have an ideal gaming experience depending on the stability and performance of your internet. He also mentioned that 720p is going to be the minimum resolution for streaming games on Stadia.
