Platinum Games is working on a new game and we heard that it is going to be unlike anything that we have seen so far. While that is very exciting on its own, some of us thought that this mystery game could be Scalebound. Other sources predicted that the cancelled game could be revived for the Nintendo Switch.
Platinum Games studio head talked about the cancellation of Scalebound and how Microsoft took most of the heat. He mentioned that Microsoft was not to be blamed entirely as both Platinum Games and Microsoft failed to deliver. The following is what he had to say in this regard:
Watching fans getting angry at Microsoft over the cancellation wasn’t easy for us to watch. Because the reality is, when any game in development can’t get released it’s because both sides failed. I think there are areas where we could’ve done better and I’m sure there are areas that Microsoft as a publishing partner wish that they could’ve done better. Because nobody wants a game to be canceled.
The cancellation of Scalebound hit fans hard and even I was excited about the game and still hope that it comes out in the future. Platinum Games studio head confirmed that the IP is owned by Microsoft and it would be highly unlikely for the game to release on the Nintendo Switch.
The Outer Worlds developer also talked about how it wanted to be acquired by Microsoft. The giant has bought a couple of studios and we are expecting some big exclusives at E3 2019. Xbox boss Phil Spencer has confirmed that the company will be going big at the Expo and with Sony not attending the event, all eyes are going to be on Microsoft.
Let us know how you felt about Scalebound being canceled and whether or not you want the game to be made in the future.
