Bethesda has had a pretty rough time since last year’s E3 and I wonder why the company is even having a conference at E3 2019. Fallout 76 has been a major disaster and it turned out to be nothing like what Todd Howard described. Fans of the franchise have pointed out that the engine of the game is just too old and Bethesda has got a much-needed reality check.
Bethesda might want to be seen as one of the big boys but the number of surprises that you can expect to see at E3 2019 is limited and the games that we are going to see at the event have already been confirmed. You will be able to hear about the upcoming Doom Eternal game which is a sequel to the previous Doom title. Other than that fans will be treated to Wolfenstein Young Blood that is a spin-off. While some fans are interested in the spin-off, it is not a major title that people are excited about.
The games are not there to merit a conference at E3 this year. Exciting games that people actually care about such as Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 are not going to be showcased at the event according to what Todd Howard. It is going to be a while before we see these games and they are most likely coming to the next-generation consoles.
It is safe to say that in order for the upcoming titles to be successful Bethesda needs to think things through. People are not going to tolerate outdated engines, poor graphics and buggy games any longer and Fallout 76 is proof of just that. The engine needs to be changed in order for these upcoming titles to hold the same place as the previous ones.
Let us know what you think about the Bethesda E3 2019 conference and whether or not you think the company should even have one this year.
