Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the major highlights of E3 2019. Keanu Reeves stepping in the stage was the ultimate cherry on top that made the CDPR cake all the sweeter. CDPR has been silent about the game for a while not and only gave away minor details to keep the hype alive but with the E3 2019 trailer, pre-orders and release date confirmation the devs are beginning to open up about the game and have been revealing more information about Cyberpunk 2077. Here we are going to talk about all the details that we got about Cyberpunk 2077 during the different interviews that were conducted.
Cyberpunk 2077 At E3 2019, Everything We Learned
The following is the new information that we know about Cyberpunk 2077. These details were revealed during E3 but there are some bits that we learned after the event from interviews and Tweets.
Why Keanu Reeves?
One of the quest designers at CDPR mentioned that Johny Silverhand is known to be a rebel and that he stands for something. He stands against the evil corporations that have taken over Night City and have treated people poorly. Keany Reeves is known for such roles in the past and that is one of the reasons why he was picked.
How Big Of A Role Does Keanu Have?
CDPR has confirmed that Keanu Reeves does not have a cameo appearance in Cyberpunk 2077 and that plays a major role and can even be seen as the second protagonist of Cyberpunk 2077. Keany will have plenty of lines in the game and has a major part to play. The relationship that he has with V depends on the choices that you make in the game.
This part of the game is still in development but the origin story of the character part is finalized. For example, you can set your character to be someone that lived on the streets. This means that you know how to deal with gang members and this can give you an advantage as you progress through Cyberpunk 2077.
You can also pick the nomad option, someone who travels between the interstates. There will be a corporate option as well and you can be someone who climbed the corporate ladder. In this case, you will know how people in corporations think and how these organizations work. The origin story that you pick will impact that dialogues in the game.
No matter which backstory you choose, V will end up being a gun for hire which we have seen in the 2018 demo of Cyberpunk 2077.
Freedom To Play
One of the major highlights of Cyberpunk 2077 is that you can tackle situations differently. You can go into a building, guns blazing or you can take a stealth approach. Some dialogues can even prevent any kind of hostility. In the new demo that was available at E3 2019, CDPR showed two different variations of V and showed how the same mission could be played in different ways.
Does It Make A Difference If You Go With A Male Or Female Character?
The quest designer mentioned that choosing a male or female version of V does not bar you from any of the content of the game but you might experience a difference in dialogues.
Character Development And Body Modifications
CDPR revealed that when it comes to cyberwear, characters will have different slots that can be assigned and upgraded as player progress through the game. For example, you can fit your legs with cyberwear that give you a double jump. This will allow you to explore new areas of Night City which would not be reachable without this ability. Other cyberwear gives you other abilities such as stealth and much more.
There are vehicles that can be kept in your garage and can be summoned on demand. These vehicles include cars and bikes. CDPR also mentioned that you can steal pretty much any car or bike that you can see much like what we are used to in GTA. Flying vehicles are there in Night City and you will be able to travel via air but you will not be able to pilot these vehicles.
CDPR has confirmed that weapons can be customized. You can add a silencer, add an extended magazine. All kind of stuff like that. Different weapons will have different slots for customization.
Depending on the region that you are in, a different kind of force will try to take you down if you do something wrong. In DownTown, you can be hunted by corporate security. There are places like Pacifica that are off-limits to the cops and in such placed the local gangs will keep you in check.
Other Things CDPR Is Considering
Other things that CDPR is working on right now are as follows:
- New game plus
- Car customization
