All the Announcements from PlayStation’s State of Play September 2019

Sony State of Play

Yesterday Sony held their State of Play event for September, the lead up to which was ripe with rumours of the appearance of The Last of Us Part 2. It seems as though now these rumours were correct, but there was much more than just Naughty Dog’s upcoming release shown during the event, which we covered at the time. Here are all the announcements from State of Play September 2019.

The Last Of Us Part 2 Release Date

As we already mentioned, The Last Of Us Part 2 was a huge part of State of Play yesterday, with the event culminating in a new trailer for the game. This trailer was made even more poignant by the announcement of the game’s release date at the end of it. The Last Of Us Part 2 will launch on the 21st of February 2020 exclusively for Playstation 4.

Death Stranding PlayStation 4 Pro Bundle

A trailer for Death Stranding seemed to confuse viewers at first, mostly because it was simply an amalgamation of pieces of other Death Stranding trailers that have already been shown. However, after 30 seconds the trailer’s true purpose was revealed, with a custom Playstation 4 Pro console manifesting from nothing. The limited edition 1TB console is white with iconic black handprints on it. As well as being bundled with a copy of the game, the console also comes with a unique Death Stranding Dualshock 4 controller that is designed to look like an in-game BB.

Humanity is a strange new game from Tetsuya Mizuguchi of Enhance, the studio behind Rez and Tetris Effect. The game looks as though it blends together Lemmings and Totally Accurate Battle Simulator into one glorious mess. Players must control large groups of humans and direct them from place to place, fighting against another unknown force as they go.

MediEvil Short-Lived Demo

A demo for the upcoming remake of MediEvil was announced during State of Play. The demo is available to download now, and will give players a chance to try out the new, updated version of the PlayStation Classic. The MediEvil remake launches on the 25th of October 2019.

Modern Warfare Campaign

A new trailer for Modern Warfare shown during State of Play focused on the game’s campaign. Captain Price takes centre stage in the all new story, though familiar themes of the team getting far too involved in saving the world are definitely bleeding through once again. There’s even a short line of dialogue from a Scottish soldier, who we can only presume is Soap, the original protagonist from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. At the end of the trailer, a small announcement that Survival Mode, a part of Spec Ops mode, is going to be exclusive to the Playstation 4 for a time was made.

Wattam is a new colourful adventure from the creator of Katamari Damacy, Keita Takahashi. No actual gameplay details were confirmed, but given the pedigree of the mind behind it, Wattam is almost certainly going to be a fun and enjoyable title that will capture hearts around the world.

Civ 6 for PS4

The 2016 PC release, Civilization IV (Civ 6), is heading to Playstation 4 on the 22nd of November. The game has seen a huge number of DLC release since its original launch date, some of which are also coming to consoles. BOth Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm will be available as a separate bundle for the game, which comes with two console-exclusive scenarios.

L.A. Noire the VR Files

Finally, L.A. Noire the VR Files is coming to Playstation VR. The game takes the L.A. Noire universe and translates it into a VR experience. Players will interview suspects in first person, using evidence they’ve gathered and their skills at detecting when someone is lying to ascertain the truth from those they’re interviewing.
