Resident Evil 3 Remake Announced – Coming April 2020

No sooner do I finish my Top 10 Games of 2019 gushing about the Resident Evil 2 remake, then moments later the trailer for a Resident Evil 3 remake drops.

So what do we know?

The game will play in a similar manner to the Resident Evil 2 remake and will be released on the 3rd April 2020. As you may know we’ve been following the games development for some time and were expecting the announcement anytime now. Although we thought Capcom may drop the trailer at JumpFesta or the Game Awards until the latter was ruled out.

Series protagonist Jill Valentine will return as the main playable character although we expect Carlos Olivera will also be playable as he was in the original at some points. Mikhail and the villainous Nikolai have also been spotted in the trailer. Nemesis was also teased but so far kept (literally) under wraps. Although his updated design is no secret, his gameplay mechanics seem to be for now.

Interestingly, Resident Evil: Resistance will be bundled with the game. This was marketed as a separate game so at this point we’re wondering was the game always intended as an extension of Resident Evil 3 (2o20) or is it just included as a pre-order bonus?

It seems like Resistance was just a multiplayer mode for RE3 all along. This makes us question will Mercenaries Mode be included? We sure hope so.

Speaking of pre-order bonuses, the game will offer Jill and Carlos’ outfits from the original game.

The game was announced today at Sony’s live event and will be coming to PC, Xbox One and PS4.

Here’s the trailer. Get your popcorn ready!
