Nemesis Is Already Stalking Us In An Unlikely Place

We know the Resident Evil 3 remake is coming in April, but its main villain has already made a cameo in the Resident Evil 2 remake in the oddest place ever; The One Shot Demo.

Last month internet cyber-sleuths spotted an unknown achievement/trophy had been added to Resident Evil 2, coincidently this appeared just before Resident Evil 3 was announced. Once it had then the content was added, but to the demo, not the main game.

It’s since been revealed that the achievement is actually a sinister sign of things to come and is in fact Nemesis growling his catchphrase “Stars…” Although to hear it you’ll need to redownload and play the original One Shot Demo that launched before Resident Evil 2. Previously, as the name implies, you only got ‘one shot’ to complete this demo with a 30-minute time limit before it bricked.

Now this has been lifted and the demo can be played as much as you like, and it’s here that Nemesis makes his voice heard. Discovery of the growl leads to the achievement itself. As the demo takes place in the RPD Station this is where Nemesis is hanging out, but you don’t get to see him, only hear him.

Why is Nemesis at RPD? Fans of the original Resident Evil 3 will remember that the early portion of the game is actually set 24 hours before Resident Evil 2 and the police station is Jill’s place of employment. This is why Nemesis makes his way there to attack her and where their game of cat and mouse begins.

We won’t reveal why it happens due to spoilers, (fans of the original will already know) but soon after this meeting there’s a time jump, and it’s within that time Resident Evil 2 happens. So it’s reasonable to assume that Nemesis is still hanging around RPD looking for any surviving STARs members to take out, which is why his voice can be heard.

That being said who knows what the Resident Evil 3 remake will change, 2 kept most details but there were subtle changes to the events, so it will be interesting to see if the Resident Evil 3 remake ties itself to 2’s in any more meaningful ways.

We’ll find out in a few months. But until then, hear it for yourself….
