If you’re trying to run the PC versions of WWE 2K20 or Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order today, or any day after New Year’s Day, then you might be having a couple of issues. Don’t worry, you’re not alone because this is happening to all PC versions of these games, and it’s all because of 2020. Right now that’s the theory anyway, because a helpful fix has been found to make the games run again. All you need to do is set your device’s internal clock back to the 31st of December 2019, and these games will launch again without an issue. As you can see, this is helping a lot of people, but it doesn’t explain what’s going on. There have also been reports, like this one from DSOGaming, that the issue stems from the use of Denuvo anti-tamper tech in these games. However, since WWE 2K20 uses Steamworks instead, this probably isn’t the case. So what the heck is going on?
WWE 2K20 Is Broken
Everyone knows that WWE 2K20 is a broken game. It launched broken, and it hasn’t gotten much better over the weeks since release, which have seen several updates and fixes. My best guess is that this is just another bug in the code that wasn’t foreseen because of how rushed the development was. It’s widely known that the game has been passed from developer to developer along its journey to get finished, and this is most likely just the result of that passing process.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is another story though. This game is phenomenal, and has very few glitches and issues by comparison. It would make sense that one piece of software common across both games is causing the issue, but without knowing exactly what was used on them we can’t pin down what’s wrong. So far there have been no official comments made on the issues, but I can imagine that a lot of work is going in to finding out what they are. With these games being two that most people will have purchased, or been given, for Christmas, it would be stupid not to try to get them running smoothly as soon as possible right now.
