It’s Your Last Chance To Try Nioh 2 Before Launch In The Last Chance Trial

Nioh 2 launches on March 13, 2020, and the game has even gone gold ahead of that. This means that Team Ninja is now working hard on any bugs and glitches that they find before release, ensuring a smooth release day for this action RPG that will keep you up at night with its brutal challenges. However, if that’s just too long for you to wait, you’re in luck, because there’s another chance to play the game early at the end of the month.

The PlayStation Blog has confirmed that a Nioh 2 Last Chance Trial will be available for you to play on Playstation 4, providing you have PlayStation Plus, between February 28th and March 1st. The trial will take you through a number of the game’s key features, including that aforementioned challenging combat, as well as the brand new character customisation. Once you’ve spent three hours creating a character, you can venture into the three missions that are available as part of this trial.

Nioh was a brilliant take on the action RPG genre, though it’s more of a soulslike than anything. The game uses those same Dark Souls mechanics that players are used to, needing to manage health and stamina whilst considering every move you make against an enemy. These mechanics become even more important against bosses, who often have their own mechanics and unique movesets. In Nioh there was a new metre to keep an eye on, Ki, and now with Nioh 2 there is Yokai energy to consider as well. Ki allows players to banish darkness and better fight enemies, whilst Yokai energy opens up powerful demon moves that can finish a fight when you’re on the ropes.

Unfortunately the progress you make in the Nioh 2 Last Chance Trial will not progress over the the main game. However, the character you build will. This is great, because it means you don’t need to spend another three hours making the exact same character in a little over a week after playing this demo. While nothing has been revealed so far, it’s also likely that this trial will award some unique in-game content for the full release of Nioh 2.
