It looks like we’re going to be getting a demo for Resident Evil 3 Remake ahead of its release. The official Resident Evil Twitter account posted a little tease earlier this week, indicating that a demo is on the way. Unfortunately we don’t have anymore details at the time of writing, but the news of an upcoming demo is excitement enough for now.
One More Shot
With Resident Evil 2 Remake we were given a one-shot demo. That demo allowed you to play a small chunk of Resident Evil 2 Remake ahead of the game’s release, but it had a unique mechanic that made it one of the most-interesting demos in recent memory.
The mechanic was that players had a time limit to get through the content of the demo, which had a defined ending. If they managed to get through the demo within the time limit, then they were treated to an exclusive look at the full game. Those who didn’t manage to complete the game within that limit didn’t see the exclusive clip, but of course it was possible to go on YouTube and look it up.
There was also talk of those who managed to beat the demo within the time limit being able to replay it over and over again, if they could take it. This would allow them to explore the areas within the demo with no time limit, and really enjoy a good section of the game before it launched.
The real killer with this one-shot demo was that it locked out if you didn’t complete it within the time limit. If you didn’t finish, then that was your entire experience with that demo. I love the idea of this sort of demo coming back for Resident Evil 3 Remake, but there’s a new aspect to consider this time around.
Resident Evil: Project Resistance is the multiplayer element of Resident Evil 3 Remake. A demo for the game might include a first public look at this new multiplayer game mode, and if it does then I am so down to try it out. Capcom is keeping this one close to its chest, so we’ll just have to wait and see what this demo contains when we finally get our hands on it.
