A demo for Resident Evil 3 Remake is coming tomorrow, and you’re not ready for it. We don’t know right now whether it will be a one-shot demo situation as the demo for Resident Evil 2 Remake was, but that now seems unlikely. Having proven that their reimagining of classic Resident Evil games is something that fans enjoy, Capcom will probably allow players to enjoy the demo for this next game as many times as they want. There’s even a little added incentive for replaying multiple times.
Two For One
As you can see, we’re actually getting two demos for the game, in a way. The first demo is for the campaign of Resident Evil 3 Remake, and that drops tomorrow on March 19. The second demo isn’t really a demo, it’s an open beta for Resident Evil Resistance. This beta goes live on March 27, and is possibly even more exciting than the chance to play as the revamped Jill Valentine on the disgusting streets of Racoon City.
The demo for the core game will be a single player experience, and should offer us a slice of Racoon City to play through. The open beta for Resident Evil Resistance on the other hand, will be like any other multiplayer beta. Capcom wants as many players as possible to jump in and push the servers to their limit, so that’s exactly what we’ll have to do. This is the new game mode in which four survivors battle against one mastermind to escape an evil experiment, and I can see it being incredibly popular with Resident Evil fans.
The added bonus that Capcom has dropped into the video above is a challenge. In the slice of Raccoon City we will be playing through, in the demo for Resident Evil 3 Remake, will be 20 separate ‘Mr. Charlie’ statues. We need to find and destroy each one, and we should get a prize. I have no idea what that prize is, and I’m sure we won’t find out until the demo is released. It could be that anyone who finds and destroys each statue will get an additional item or costume for use in the full game. There could even be a bonus item for Resident Evil Resistance.
Only time will tell what this challenge nets us. I’ll be playing the demo, and I’ll report back with my thoughts once I’ve done so.
