Good News Everyone! Capcom Is Working On Resident Evil 4 Remake

With the success of Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake, read out review here, It seems like there’s no stopping Capcom from revitalising their beloved survival horror franchise. The next game to see the remake treatment is reportedly going to be Resident Evil 4. I don’t know about you, but I am definitely ready for Resident Evil 4 Remake.

VGC published a piece over the weekend that explained how development sources close to them have confirmed that Capcom is working on Resident Evil 4 Remake, with a view to launch the game in 2022. The development is being led by M-Two, the Osaka-based studio that was formed by Platinum Games’ Head Tatsuya Minami. The company has been preparing for work on this game since 2018, the year between Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 2 Remake’s release.

While M-Two is going to be doing the bulk of the work, it’s likely that Capcom will use the various studios they have under their umbrella to spread the strain, making the whole process a lot more streamlined. What’s even better is that the original Producer of Resident Evil 4, Shinji Mikami, has given his blessing for the project to go ahead. He officially declined work on the remake when approached though.

M-Two is made up of various Capcom and Platinum Games staff, and they’ve already proven themselves with their contributions to Resident Evil 3 Remake. Both remake games have been incredible. They’ve paid tribute to the source material whilst also creating their own unique experiences for fans new and old to enjoy.

Resident Evil 4 is one of the most-loved games in the franchise. It came along at a time when survival horror needed a boost, and reinvented the genre in a way. All survival horror games that came after borrowed from it in some way, and ultimately that led to the genre becoming too action-oriented for its own good. However, given how terrifying the recent remakes have managed to be, there’s every chance that Resident Evil 4 Remake will retain that essence of what made it so good, whilst adding in a much more terrifying take on the story.
