FIFA 20 TOTS Just A Matter Of Weeks Away?

FIFA 20 Career Mode

So, we’ve seen Shapeshifters Team 2, Winter Refresh and FUT Birthday, but now focus in the FIFA 20 community is turning to Team of the Season, otherwise known as TOTS. It’s the most eagerly anticipated EA Sports promo of the FIFA calendar. And, while we are all aware that real-life football has been brought to a temporary halt, TOTS is expected to go ahead as planned.

TOTS is the last promotion in the lifespan of a FIFA release, and the longest in terms of running time as well. It usually takes place over six to eight weeks, with multiple squads and high-rated cards dropping onto the market. In FIFA 19, TOTS began on May 10 and ran for seven weeks, ending on June 28. In that time, fourteen TOTS squads hit the scene, and there could be more this time around.

We will likely see Liga MX and Chinese Super League TOTS in FIFA 20, to bring even more spark to the exciting promotion. Team of the Season is often a playground for professional e-sport FIFA players, who regularly find a home for them in their end-game teams. Due to current conditions, e-sport events are now not taking place, although they do very much remain the future of gaming and sports betting, especially with the potential of cryptocurrency in e-sports which could make this pastime even more compelling.

We expect the Premier League Team of the Season to be a strong one as always. And it will undoubtedly be dominated by Liverpool players. Alisson Becker, Virgil Van Dijk, Sadio Mane and Mo Salah will likely be the highest-rated from Jurgen Klopp’s side. However, in terms of popularity, Trent Alexander-Arnold will be a big hit, and Jordan Henderson could be useable in the middle of the park.

In La Liga, there will be a lot of fantastic players to pick from, with Jan Oblak, Sergio Ramos, Frenkie De Jong and Lionel Messi all likely to bag a new card. As always, and TOTS Varane will be an immediate buy for players who can afford to make the purchase. We’re not sure we will see Marc-Andre ter Stegen in the La Liga TOTS, which is somewhat of a shame. But, his 90-rated gold card is by far and away the best on the game where goalkeepers are concerned, so, it’s not all bad.

The Bundesliga isn’t as popular as it once was in terms of full Bundes squads, but maybe TOTS will change the minds of some. A Manuel Neuer TOTS card could be significant, especially after his TOTY Flashback card did so well. Add TOTS Upamecano, Sancho, Reus, Haaland and Werner into the mix, and the Bundesliga looks a fantastically attractive proposition once again.

Time will tell whether the release of Team of the Season and how it comes to fruition will be affected by the current state of play. But it will happen, as it is the biggest promotion on the FIFA calendar. And players of Ultimate Team need something to do for the next several months while lockdown restrictions remain in place
