2 Madden Sims for this Weekend with Picks

The fact that sports have been brought to a literal standstill due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, sportsbooks have come up with a great way to keep the bets coming in while giving us something to watch.

It’s a marriage between videogames and sports. Obviously, there are eSports, but this is a bit different; it’s sims. We use number sims all the time to predict sporting events, so why not take it a step further and run a one-time team versus teams, based on end-of-season rosters and stats and wager on the outcomes.

We’ve picked two Madden 20 sims at Bookmaker.eu that should provide a lot of fun and could be quite profitable if handicapped like a ‘real’ football game.

Saturday, May 30th

12 PM ET | Seattle Seahawks at Cleveland Browns

When you set the game to ‘All-Madden,’ it’s a lot more competitive. So, you don’t have those random blowouts.

And that’s why I love this line. Of course, the Seahawks are -120 at +2, so Bookmaker is kind of expecting them to cover the number. Even though the Hawks will be on a road made of ones and zeros, playing in a digital FirstEnergy Stadium with thousands of animated screaming fans, I still like Seattle in this one.

The Browns finished 6-10 in a letdown season. The sims use end of the season roster, and if they are putting any weight into the end of season stats, then the Browns lose this one by a touchdown or more. Cleveland fell off in the final three weeks of play. They lost 38 to 24 to the Arizona Cardinals, then 31 to 15 to the Baltimore Ravens – which was expected. But then they got trounced 33 to 23 by the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 17.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks lost by a field goal in Levi Stadium, then beat the Superbowl Champs by a touchdown, beat the Arizona Cardinals to go on to the wildcard game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Take the Seahawks fake players to trounce the Browns fake players on Saturday!

Pick: Seattle +2 (-120) at Bookmaker

Jacksonville Jaguars @ New England Patriots -5.5

So, the 6-10 Jaguars head up to faux Foxboro to face the 12-4 Patriots and the best defense in the NFL.

There was a lot of talk about the Pats defense and mostly, it was negative speak about their offense. But they finished the season with the 7th best scoring offense in the league, this goes against the Jags who finished with 18.75 points per game, 11 teams under league average and 7th worst in the NFL.

Defensively, the Pats were the No. 1 team, holding their victims to just 14.41 points per game. Jacksonville also had a below-average defense, allowing 24.17 points to be scored per affair. So, let’s quickly run the numbers.

The Patriots score 25.47 per game, while the Jags allow 24.17. Ok. So, we can safely say the Patriots will put up 24 or more. The Jaguars struggle against middling defenses only scoring 18.75 on the season, but they’ll be going up against a team that allows just 14 points … so we can safely say that they’ll not reach their average score.

In real life, a struggling Jags team against the Pats at home would barely break double-digits. I’d handicap the game 24-10 in favor of the Pats. But since this is a sim, I think Mr. Madden will allow the Jags to a touchdown and a few field goals or two TDs and a field goal. So, my prediction for this sim-game is the Patriots winning by a score of 24-16.

Pick: Take the New England Patriots -5.5 at Bookmaker

Bonus Prediction: A quick pick for Sunday’s slate is the Ravens to cover the -2 point spread at home over the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers struggled mightily late last year and the Ravens were a well-oiled scoring machine.
