Crash Bandicoot 4 It’s About Time Looks Intense

Activision has revealed a brand new Crash game, and it looks really epic. Crash Bandicoot 4 It’s About Time is a brilliant play on words. The game will be about Crash and friends roaming through time, and it’s a great nod to the fact that it has been years since we’ve had a new Crash game to get excited about. No, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled doesn’t count because it’s still technically a remake, though it was very good.

There will be a mounting pile of expectation for this new Crash game over the course of the year as we get closer to the release date of October 2. The game is coming to both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with no mention of next-gen versions, or even a Switch version. Given how many Crash games are now available on the Switch, I’d say that this one will come to the platform next year. As for next-generation versions, I think that announcement will come closer to the time, alongside news that players will get a free upgrade if they buy a copy of the game for current-generation consoles.

In Crash Bandicoot 4 It’s About Time we can see that all the classic heroes and villains will be making a comeback. In addition to these familiar faces, we’ve got new ones in the form of brand new masks. These masks will give crash some new powers that will be essential for traversing certain levels.

Just looking at the gameplay, you can see that this is a very polished Crash game already. The platforming loop and tropes of the previous games have all been included here, giving the game both a sense of nostalgia, and the feeling of being something totally new. I haven’t been excited about many of the Crash remakes, simply because I played the original games to death already. This is one I’m excited to play though, because it’s full of secrets to unlock, and levels to master that will drive me nuts.

I think that producing a brand new Crash game at the end of a console generation seems a bit silly. But if you look at this as the first Crash game of the next-generation of consoles, it’s a genius idea. This is a game that everyone will want to play, and having it on a shiny new machine will only make it better.
