Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Multiplayer Explained

With Assassin’s Creed Valhalla nearly upon us, I’ve decided that something needs clearing up. Past game shave had multiplayer components, with some of those being active, and others being passive. I loved the first iteration of multiplayer, which saw you actively assassinating enemy players in Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, but by the time we get to Origins there’s little more than dead bodies to interact with. I have to admit, it was nice to see other players having an influence in my game, but I wanted something a little bit more so I could be actively involved. With Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s multiplayer, that’s exactly what we’re getting.

In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla you can’t jump into someone else’s game. Unfortunately, you can’t take part in raids together, and see how they’ve decorated their settlement, which is a real shame. You can, however, support other players, and have them support you in turn.

The game will give you a single Custom Raider that you can mold to look however you want. This includes plastering them with tattoos, and even changing their face. Once you’re happy with this Custom Raider, you can post them online for other players to use in their game. Think of it as hiring out one of your villagers to go and do some work for someone else. The benefit to you is that this Custom Raider will grow stronger over time, and you’ll benefit from some of the loot they get a share of in another player’s game.

Since you can send your Custom Raider off, you too can hire anyone else’s Custom Raider. I don’t know how many Custom Raiders you can hire, but I’d like to think that you can fill your longboat with raiders from other players. This might see you lose all of the loot that you’d otherwise collect, but it would be amazing to see those Custom Raiders running around on the battlefield.

The one part of this that I’m looking forward to the most is equipping my Custom Raider with two shields. I think this will make them an absolute beast, and other players will only be able to laugh on as this Custom Raider defends themselves to victory. I hope.
