Get The Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor Platinum Before It’s Too Late

Recently I’ve seen some shocking news about Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. This game is one of the best Lord of the Rings games on the market in my opinion. It even pioneered the Nemesis system, which stands up today, even on next-gen consoles. However, one of the biggest and most important reasons to play the game is going to be destroyed by the end of 2020. This gives you about two months to get the platinum trophy, which is what we’re all really concerned about, otherwise, it’s gone forever.

The issue is that WBPlay won’t be available in the game from December 31, 2020. While the Epic Runes locked behind it, Orc Hunter and Gravewalker, will be awarded to players automatically, there are some things that will be gone forever. If you look at the trophy or achievement list for the game, these start to become clear.

I think all of the trophies and achievements that are locked behind online functionality will be completely unobtainable. This happens with older games as they are cycled out of use by the publisher or developer. It’s completely normal, and not an issue for most players. For us trophy hunters though, this is a chance to get a platinum that will soon be an incredibly rare item.

At the time of writing, 16.99% of all players with the game have the platinum. This counts it as Rare, but not quite Ultra Rare. However, I’d argue that it will be Ultra Rare as of January 1, 2021, because no one else will be able to get it.

This is a once in a lifetime chance to get a platinum trophy before it’s gone forever. If you can put this on your PlayStation profile before the end of the year, why wouldn’t you? It’s going to be one of those bragging rights that you have over so many other players. Since trophies and profiles come across to the PlayStation 5 as well, I have no doubt that we’ll be able to brag about this trophy for years to come. I anticipate being able to show it off when the PlayStation 6 launches. Not that anyone will care too much by that point.
