If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that we need to be kind to ourselves every now and then. I don’t mean by exercising or getting outside in general, but more by taking some time to calm down and chill out. There aren’t many games that allow you this luxury, mostly because they generally involve a lot of thinking or action on the player’s part. However, in this series, I’m going to put together some of the best games to chillout to so that anyone who needs one can find it and relax for a while. They’re not all going to be blockbusters, but they’re not all terrible either. Today, we’re looking at Cloudpunk,
Cloudpunk is a game that’s all about delivering goods, and sometimes people, around a giant cyberpunk city. You’d have thought that would mean it’s stressful, but it’s so far from that. You simply drive from point A to point B and listen to all the stories in-between. It’s a very relaxing game, apart from the three time-based missions. You can fail those and still complete it however, the story will go on. This is a game you can pick up and play from start to finish in as little or as much time as you want.
The beauty of Cloudpunk is its world. It’s so inviting that you simply have to complete every mission in order to understand more about it. There are hidden side quests to find, and loads of collectibles to pick up if you want to get 100%. Best of all, after you’ve finished the story, you can go back out and fly around more if you want. There’s no reason to stop. The music in the game is soothing for the most part, but really it’s just the act of driving around the city that will relax you. The story is almost like one you’d read to a child before bed, it gets you in the mood to lie down somewhere cozy.
I love Cloudpunk, and I’ve been playing it a lot to try and hit 100% completion. That’s not what it’s all about though. If you just need something to take your mind off the world and relax, then this is the game you’ve been looking for.
