Will We Ever Get Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice 2?

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a very different sort of game from the titles you know From Software for. It’s built to be faster paced and uses an entirely new sort of stamina system that is incredibly tough to get your head around initially. It’s also the first game where the lines between humanity and myth are sort of blurred, making for a world where the two exist as one and you’re battling them together. I didn’t get on with it, but I definitely see the appeal. I think my issue is the speed of the combat and being able to react in time. I’m old, and that just makes me a bit salty and angry when I die too many times. My question is, will we ever get a Sekrio: Shadows Die Twice 2?

From Software has a bit of a thing about sequels of late. It doesn’t seem to want to make them. This started with Dark Souls, though the company was then forced to make two sequels to that, but so far we’ve not had a sequel to Bloodborne or Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. It’s an odd way for a developer to work. It’s almost as if it doesn’t want to capitalise on its own success and instead wants to purely work on brand new entries.

I have no experience in developing games, so I don’t know the feeling behind the scenes. However, I do see other developers talking about how much they love their fan base and wanting to make new games in the same series to please them. Sure, they’re bowing a little to demand, but they’re also making games that they want to make, not ones their fans want. Assassin’s Creed is a prime example, since each game is different and has a lot more to offer that’s new than the last entry.

I don’t think we will get a Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, at least not any time soon. If we ever do, it’ll be long after Bloodborne 2 and Elden Ring have launched. From Software is doing what it wants, and that’s generally the best way for the studio to work. While we may want more sequels, we all know we’ll play whatever game they put out anyway.
