Ratchet & Clank Movie to be Screened at Cannes

Following a number of recent limited test screenings, the official Ratchet & Clank movie will be debuted at the Marché du Film, the trade show counterpart to the Cannes Film Festival, next month.

The Rainmaker Entertainment-produced animated feature, based on Insomniac Games’ hit PlayStation platforming series, will be screened in 3D at the Cinéma Olympia on May 15 and 16 at 4pm.

The movie’s official website provides the following synopsis for the flick:

“Ratchet and Clank, two unlikely heroes, must stop a vile alien named Chairman Drek from destroying every planet in the Solana Galaxy. Ratchet is the last of his kind – a foolhardy “lombax” who has grown up alone on a backwater planet with no family of his own. Clank is a pint-sized robot with more brains than brawn. When the two stumble upon a dangerous weapon capable of destroying entire planets, they must join forces with a team of colorful heroes called The Galactic Rangers in order to save the galaxy. Along the way they’ll learn about heroism, friendship, and the importance of discovering one’s own identity.”

The following new screens were also revealed:

Ratchet & Clank is being directed by Kevin Munroe and Jericca Cleland, and features an original story written by the original Insomniac writer, TJ Fixman. The original voice cast from the video game series are also reprising their roles.

Ratchet & Clank is set for a general release in cinemas later in 2015, ahead of a ‘reimagined’ PS4 game featuring the popular duo.
