CD Projekt RED has today unveiled the official gameplay trailer for its upcoming fantasy roleplaying title, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
The five-minute video provides players with a taste of the action-adventure game’s stunning open world environments and terrains, juxtaposed with prevalent themes of religious fanaticism, racial hatred, violence and brutality.
Of course, it also showcases the series’ trademark monsters, whose behaviour, it is revealed, is affected by the game’s constantly changing weather and day/night conditions.
In the WB Games-published title, you will assume the role of the ‘witcher’ Geralt of Rivia, a monster-slayer for hire. Your task is to track down the Child of Prophecy, a living weapon that has the potential to ‘alter the shape of the world’. In your journey, you’ll traverse across the Northern Realms, a vast continent which the developer promises will be ‘filled with merchant cities, mysterious islands, dangerous mountain passes, and forgotten caverns to explore’.
Equipped with a lethal sword and magic skills at your disposal, you will be able to take advantage of the game’s numerous armour and weapon and skill upgrades. Not only that, but the the freedom The Witcher 3 affords players will allow you to play the character however you want – be it altruistic nice guy, or renegade outlaw.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is set to release worldwide on May 19 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Are you excited to get your hands on the title? What did you think of the official trailer? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
